On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. Jake Sully, a paraplegic former Marine, is sent on a mission to infiltrate their society using an "avatar" body. As he falls in love with a Na'vi woman and learns their ways, he finds himself caught between his orders and the fight to protect Pandora.
